President Adrian Kerr welcomes you to the website of The Rotary Club of Belfast.
We were the first club to have been formed in the UK. Our first meeting was held on 24 July 1911 and a vibrant club has been in continuous existence since.
We are always delighted to welcome guests from the world of Rotary. The Club meets on Monday lunchtimes and Thursday early evenings. All details can be found on the Meetings page.
Rotarians and friends, it is with great pleasure that I assume the role of the 100th President of the widely respected Rotary Club of Belfast. It is also a daunting and humbling task, as I look back on the achievements of the many past Presidents in whose footsteps I have to follow and attempt to emulate their success in encouraging the efforts of others for the benefit of the citizens of Belfast, Northern Ireland and beyond.
This is a year of celebration as reflected in our programme of events. It is also a year to continue our good work in all areas of service, underpinned by the message from RI President Kalyan Banerjee to ‘Reach within to Embrace Humanity’. A strong call to us all to search within ourselves to seek new ways to reach out and embrace others who need our help and support throughout the year.
As well as celebrating our past we must also utilise this important year to build a future for the Club which will ensure that it continues to prosper for the next hundred years.
The Rotary Club of Belfast is a vibrant Club, it is welcoming and friendly. It is a Club which taught me, during my years of membership, the meaning of ‘Service above Self’ a phrase which has been demonstrated by example by so many of our members over the years. I know that with the ongoing support of service chairs and their many willing helpers that we can all make the centenary year 2011-12 a year to be proud of.
Let’s celebrate, consolidate, and plan for our future, in the spirit of friendship and fun, which has underpinned our success to date and will continue to serve us well in the years ahead.
